Buying a Generator: Why You Should Consider It

Climate change is becoming very real, and different parts of the world are experiencing it very differently. The icecaps are melting at an alarming rate, the number of tsunamis and tropical storms in coastal areas is increasing, and all of Europe is experiencing a record-breaking heatwave this year. So, it is safe to say that things are getting really rough, and if you are living in an area that has been facing a lot of weather changes, chances are the number of storms you experience throughout the year is increasing, which means the number of instances of a power outage is increasing as well.

Just a few days ago Jakarta experienced a nine-hour blackout after some weather fluctuations. So, now is probably as good a time as any to buy a generator for yourself. It is actually really easy to find a good generator if you have your needs figured out. The first decision you have to make is between standby and a portable generator. Standby generators are more expensive than portable generators, but they are a lot more powerful as well, so they can take up the more electrical load. A portable generator only has an upper hand in case you want to move your generator around to different places, but if that is not what you have in mind, then you can invest in a standby generator.

You next have to decide whether you want a generator that runs on gasoline or one that runs on propane or natural gas, and if we have to compare the three options, then gasoline is not the preferred option in this scenario. Propane and natural gas happen to be cleaner than gasoline, and having a lot of gasoline stored inside your house is probably not a good idea either.
